The 5 Animals: Dragon, Tiger, Crane, Serpent and Leopard
THE 5 ANIMALS
by Steve Spano
Loosened, balanced and reorganized through the Healing Circle and the 8 Changes, we may begin the work of empowerment. This is a process of modulating the amplitude and frequency of internal energy waves. The functional reasons for doing this work are that the limits of strength and flexibility are stretched and stamina and immune system boosted. We learn to direct vital energy to the bones, tendons and central nervous system, as well as utilize the same energy pathways used in acupuncture.
The Five Animals exercises are based on ancient shamanic and yogic practices. They are the movements of Dragon, Tiger, Crane, Serpent and Leopard. These exercises are dynamic, and in some cases can also be martial in nature. Described briefly and in general, the Dragon works on the central nervous system, the Tiger on the bones, the Crane on the tendons and connective tissues, the Serpent on the surface energy pathways and the Leopard on the deep energy reservoirs.
Please note that while access to a wider range of amplitudes and frequencies allows us to accelerate change in our body function and structure, high energy charges may also be introduced into our system. We should not undertake 5 Animal work prior to loosening and reorganizing. Doing so could cause organic damage.
